08/15/2011

Hola Familia, This week was another good week. I'm still not sick so things have been rolling good and normal. We got hermana Ninoska interviewed and also Hermano Eddy and they are going to be baptized this Saturday so thats gonna be awesome. They are both ready to get baptized and I have no worries about them because they are truly ready to be. We had an awesome ward confrence or branch conference as it is here. It was awesome because they served a vegetable salad and cake with this drink. Idk what it was but it was pretty good. It was funny because they probably only do that here in Beni. My comp is from Peru and he told me has never seen this before. But we're teaching a family right now of 6 and we're hoping that they will accept our invitacion to be baptized this Saturday. The mom asked us about baptism last week but we felt we needed to wait longer to invite them to be baptised. We feel like this week should be a good time to invite them. The mom has gone to church twice now and her son and the dad will be going to church this week. It would be truly awesome if they could all as a family make a covenant with thier Heavenly Father. The son who is 19 is truly sincere and he told us that he feels at peace to know that Christ's church is here on the earth. He hasn't even prayed and you could tell in his face that he truly believed everything we taught. The spirit was truly speaking to him. It's crazy. I still can't explain to you the expression he had on his face. It was like he had been sad for a long time and he just gained hope. He and his mom before hand told us he wasn't doing the best things and not coming home at night until 3 in the morning, and how he wanted to change his life around. It just goes to show that those who have been brought down and humbled are truly ready to hear our message and it will bring them more than the happiness that they would need to move on. But it's been real nice and hot like this week and I get darker and darker every day. We are having a lot of success I have learned a good lesson. You just need to work hard and give it all your heart and the Lord will truly do His part. I remember in sacrament meeting that we had investigators, but there was a mom and her 3 kids and a father who we stopped by before church to remind them and they told us they were gonna come. Well we waited and they weren't showing up. So I prayed and prayed and had the feeling they weren't going to come. But what was truly special was the feeling I had inside of the comfort of the holy ghost. I could feel the love of our Heavenly Father and I knew that I did all I could and that He was proud and knew that He would prepare them in His way. I just have to try my hardest to be an instrument in His hands. But a funny story. There was a party next to our house and when we went outside with our dirty clothes, all the drunk guys kept yelling "hey cousin come here hey cousin hey". My comp started laughing and then he started to say it. But idk why the drunk guys always want to talk to us. We also taught these inactives that were having a lot of trouble. Her husband always came home drunk threatening to kill his daughter. The cops had to come and the mom was crying during our lesson. We told her that God has the power to change everything and if you truly come unto Him he will carry you in His hands. But afterwards she told us she would go to church. She has gone to church now the last three weeks. She has gone to all the family home evenings that they hold as a branch and the noche de hermanamiento. This Sunday her husband came to church with them and he offered the closing prayer and participated. It's truly crazy what the Lord is willl to do for those that truly love Him and sacrifice thier time and talents to magnify thier callings and their responsibilities that they have. But I truly love my new area here and I want for sure one or two more cambios here. This transfer flew by. We're in our last week here, so we for sure will continue working hard. You really only recieve blessings when you work for them. I love you guys a ton. Thanks for all your prayers, love, and support. Elder Christoffersen
