January 16, 2012

Hola Familia, This week was pretty dang good, even though the two families that are scheduled to be baptized couldn't make it to church this week. But they are still progressing and it makes me really excited for February. We have found the most amazing family that I've ever taught before in the mission. I love visiting them and teaching them. It's like a family that you read a conversion story of in the Ensign. It's a mom and dad with a twelve yr. old, seven yr. old, and 5 yr. old. They always tell us how they have never ever felt this way listening to missionaries and when all the other missionaries come to their house they just don't feel good. They don't even want to leave the house to talk to them. They send their kids out to tell them they don't have time or don't want to listen. But we got to the fense and the dad said he saw us. Then he just felt like coming out and talking to us. He said to his wife that we would like to teach them a small message. She said oh alright, and she got changed and stopped the good movie they rented and got ready to hear us. It's crazy. They tell us all the time how they feel when we teach, and the dad said he has never really wanted anything like this before. When we taught about Joseph Smith and the first vision we gave the mom goosbumps. When we ended I felt like I needed to invite them to be baptized. After I asked them, they both looked at each other and then nodded their heads that they wanted to. After that the husband put his arm around his wife and grabbed her hand, and they both had watery eyes and huge smiles. I couldn't believe how happy they became when we invited them to be baptized. The only sad thing is that they couldn't get to church because the husband got pretty sick and had to go to the hospital. But he is gettting a lot better now. They even planned to make us crepes Sunday morning too, haha. They are awesome!  We had desert crepes one night and then doughnuts haha. She loves cooking for us. I am just way happy that we found a family to teach like this. It's crazy how much the Lord guides you to the familias that He is preparing, when two missionaries are working hard, and are both there for the right reasons. Whey they are always looking for ways to improve and trying to teach with love and do all they can for the familia. It just shows you how many blessings can come to a companionship when God is first in both their lives. He truly works miracles and moves mountains.  Have an awesome week.
Love, Elder Christoffersen
