January 9, 2012

Hola familia, This week was pretty good. My comp and I are really learning how to work together with unity and it is starting to become awesome to teach together. I like teaching with him because I can really feel the spirit and he really knows how to teach. We have a bunch of really good investigators and we were very blessed to have 8 of them with us in church yesterday. It was way cool. This professor who is listening to a bunch of other missionaries from other churches came to church today and he told us he has never listened to missionaries as long as he has been listening to us. He still has some doubts but he knows he needs to get baptized. He's just very scared about baptism because he knows it's a serious thing. We are hoping and praying that he gets his answer soon. Also we were able to teach three lessons with Presidente Saturday which was way cool. We went to 3 very important appointments. One was a mother we got to teach that went to church with her husband and kids. And another mom, Virginia, who has a baptismal date too. We were pretty sad because the appointment that we felt the spirit the strongest with, this married couple, didn't go to church. I hope things will still go well with them. But the Presidente is a fantastic teacher and he shows real power and authority when he teaches. It was a fun night being able to talk with him and ride in his small suv. It was funny. He had the AC on in his car and my comp and I were getting cold!  I think we have adjusted too much to the weather here in Bolivia. The only bad thing is that the weather was great in Riberalta when I left because it was raining all the time. It doesn't hardly rain at all here. We put a date with this 20 yeat old that is way cool. He has had a lot of doubts about baptism. He's the last of his family to be baptized. Elder Frost was able to baptize the last transfer. But we taught a lesson yesterday and the spirit was so strong. He told him that through his faith he will be able to set a date and will  progress towards it too. We also taught a crazy lesson to this 17 year old guy who is almost 18. We taught him right after we contacted him and we ended up putting a baptismal date with him. He wants to turn his life around and be a better person. He also said he wants to be able to find a good wife and be able to go to church with her, which was pretty cool. What I thought was really cool yesterday, was  that we taught this guy who is the right hand guy in a big abominable church here, haha. He was a good guy and asked us what our biggest dream was that we had. My comp and I had the exact same answer and it made me realize the blessings that come from this church. We both wanted to get married to an amazing girl in the temple, have kids, and raise a righteous family in the church. He told us those are beautiful goals and we are not like all of the other kids our age. He said he looks up to us and that we are an example to him.  What an incredible blessing to be a member of the true church and to have these blessings.     Love, Elder Christoffersen
